Christopher s. Childs

Artist. Filmmaker. PR wizard.

My academic journey began in 2003 at the University of Georgia. It was there at the Grady College of Journalism where I discovered my passion for media making, ultimately graduating in 2005. I then ventured off to NYC to study documentary and experimental film theory at the New School, where I recieved a master's in media studies.

While in New York, I've worked at various film studios in several roles above and below the line. Of note, I've been furtunate to work for Maysles (Grey Gardens, Gimme Shelter) and Troma Films (The Toxic Avenger.) Those two extremes in genres should give you a glimpse of the spectrum of my film passion. Documentary, experimental, silent, and genre films are what I gravitate to the most from both an academic but also professional perspective.

I have a decade of experience in managing, directing, and producing content for a PEG television station. In that time, I produced nearly 1000 television programs varying from talk shows, to live events, and public information progaming.

Currently, I work for UGA's office of Marketing and Communications where I utilize and develop innovative ways of pitching the University's stories and faculty expertise to broadcast media. Each day I work with reporters, filmmakers, and faculty members to share UGA excellence. My newest role takes advantage of my prodcution, creative, public relations expertise in ways that continue to develop my diversified skill sets.
