Hand-crafted/Non-fiction media maker.
While I tend to avoid the term "artist," I am most certainlly a non-fiction filmmaker. The process for many of my films I make include hand-painting clear 16mm film leader, projecting, digitizing, and editing other multimedia to combine non-narrative and elements.
In additional to these less narrative-structured films, I enjoy storytelling in the form of documentary. This often involves me working directly with subjects but can also be wholly made up of "found footage" created by others and repurposed by myself.
Untitled SP #1
A single-strip, spray-painted, 16mm film that explores light and negative space by the use coins as masking tools.
Unititled SP #2
A hand-painted 16mm, found footage and sound film. A mixed-media reaction to the gulf oil spill.
God's Tackle Box
A documentary that explores the strangely compatible mixture of pro wrestling and evangelical Christianity as it follows a group of aspiring and former pro wrestlers who unite to minister the word of God from the ring.
Representing Prelinger
Rick Prelinger has amassed an impressive archive of ephemeral films that are freely available to the public. A found footage film, Re-Presenting Prelinger demonstrates how the act of archiving is integral in the process of exploring the space between our collective past and present.
Film Promotor and Presenter
From 2009-2018 I coordinated and hosted over two dozen public film screenings and audience Q and As with filmmakers at the Winder Cultural Arts Center, bringing indpendent, documentary and critical film disucssion to a community that at the time did not have a movie theater.
